The educational offer of TV5MONDE
TV5MONDE, the world’s French-language cultural television channel, publishes, as part of its educational program “Learning and teaching French with TV5MONDE”, two websites specially designed for teachers and learners as well as a mobile application “Learning French with TV5MONDE”. The channel offers, in free access, a series of pedagogical tools facilitating the use of some of the programs it broadcasts or content available online for learning French as a foreign language (FLE).
TV5MONDE and the Alliance Française Brussels-Europe
In 2005, TVMONDE launched a consultation for the implementation of the pedagogical component of this system, based on information and designed to meet the expectations of learners working independently or in a classroom situation, and residing in both Southern and Northern countries. Teachers, civil servants and diplomats working in international and European organizations are one of the priority audiences for this program.
TV5monde selected the Alliance Française Brussels-Europe for its values, its label, its expertise in content design, but also and above all for its expertise in international relations. Located in the heart of the European institutions and mandated by the International Organization of La Francophonie to teach French for international relations to diplomats based in Belgium and to journalists accredited by the European Commission, the Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe has developed a recognized expertise in the field, thanks to a network of specialized teachers and the support of the International Organization of La Francophonie, which offers training courses on French for international relations every year.
Since 2005, TV5MONDE has placed its trust in the Alliance Française Brussels-Europe. Each year, more than 160 educational sheets and digital activities designed by the Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe’s team of trainers and designers are made available to teachers and learners around the world in various collections:
- language and francophonie (Quiproquo, Parlons peu parlons bien),
- culture, literature and history (Quésaco, La Grande explication)
- news and French for international relations (7 jours sur la planète, Diplôme de français des relations internationales), and many others.
Current and modern resources for the FLE class
The Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe also does everything possible to ensure that this TV5MONDE educational offer, which proposes resources based on current events, is used in the classroom as a complement to the course manual. In order to facilitate access, the Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe posts links to new online activities on its course platform every week, which can be downloaded from the TV5MONDE website for use in class.
Learners can also find on the platform links to self-correcting digital activities to practice independently. Thus, each week, new files, new themes and new pedagogical possibilities are made available for a teaching-learning process that the Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe wishes to be up-to-date, modern and based on authentic documents.
