In some words...
On Thursday, October 3, 2024, the Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe invites you to attend the conference "Sport and Diplomacy," presented by Ambassador Delcorde, at 6:30 PM.
At first glance, sports seem very distant from diplomacy, as they are associated with leisure and physical fitness. However, in a globalized and interconnected society, sports have become an international social phenomenon. States invest in sports both as a symbol of power and a means of influence. Does it offer a diplomatic avenue for competition between states?
This conference will explore how sports are used, for better or for worse. The analysis will be linked to the Paris Olympics and major sporting competitions in general.
Raoul Delcorde, Honorary Ambassador of Belgium, member of the Class of Moral and Political Sciences of the Royal Academy of Belgium, Doctor of Political Science, guest professor at UCLouvain and the University of Montreal, and author of several works on diplomacy, has the honor of sharing his expertise with us at this event.
To participate, we invite you to register.
