The Eu speaks your language
an exhibition on the 60th anniversary of Regulation 1/1958
From 15 march to 17 may 2019
at the Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe Gallery

This exhibition travels back in time to 1958, to the first legal act of the EEC/EU, to highlight its historical significance.
Regulation 1/1958 has played a key role in building the EU in that it allows work to be carried out in each of the Member States' languages. In doing so it strengthens the participation of civil society and boosts the EU's democratic legitimacy.
"The EU speaks your language" was produced by the European Economic and Social Committee in September 2018 to mark the 60th anniversary of Regulation 1/1958 entering into force.
It was designed to be a touring exhibition, as a tribute to a multilingual Europe. The Alliance Française Bruxelles-Europe is its fourth
stop.
